I bought bolillo and pan dulce for the week, plus a tamale for under $5 in Echo Park. I then take a piece of that bolillo to a coffee shop that serves artisanal coffee prepared with a pour-over. This is a Sunday thing I love. There’s a post-modern comment about gentrification and my being Mexican in there somewhere, but I can do this ritual in any city. I’ll mull it over with my Handsome coffee and bolillo.
